they were burning ...

That was the description Patrick gave me when he rushed back to the hotel to call me to come and look at the back-lit grass flowers - as the last rays of a golden afternoon were disappearing behind the hills. He had already taken these two shots, before coming back to fetch me to enjoy the display with him.
Of course by the time we both got back there, the best light had gone, but he still got some more great photos, and he took some of me as well :o)

These are beautiful - I had been admiring the ones of you on your facebook profile so it's nice to see them in context.
What camera does Patrick use for photoshoots?

These were just shot with his small 35mm camera, a Fuji/Nikon S2 - but he does his professional work with a LEAF Aptus 65, which is a high-end digital back. (28 megapixels), it produces a file of over 100megabytes! The detail is astonishing - he uses it mainly for food shoots. If you zoom in you can even see the tiny hairs on a strawberry! (who would want to is what I ask!)

Whew, I had to Google that one - I'd never heard of the LEAF Aptus range. WAY out of my league! :-)

But these pictures do sustain my theory that you don't need to use a top-of-the-range camera to get brilliant shots - composition is everything!
